There is no need for an alarm clock here. Right around 6am the sun starts to shines through my thick canvass/plastic curtains (even though I look out to the west; I feel bad for those on the other side of the house), and the birds begin to reenact the Trojan War outside my window. There are these little black birds with relatively long yellow beaks who squawk in a delightful “Uh-ee uh-ee uh-ee uh-ee uh-ee uh-EEEEE” song, with an occasional “whoooook” thrown in for good measure. And of course there are a TON of cockatiels everywhere (which reply to the small black birds song with a delightful and carefully coordinated song which I will try to recreate in words here. It goes something like this:
*ahem*
“WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.”
Not exactly like waking up to the sizzling sound of pancakes and bacon. But then again it’s pretty easy to get up when the sun in shining bright and it’s not overcast, gray, 40 degrees and drizzling sideways. I’m off to a second day of classes! (Temperature=104 F based on my alarm clock temp gauge)
