The ride to the beach, the frying at the beach, and the dying pain back home

Today was beach day. We took a bus downtown to circular quay, and then took a ferry over to Manly beach. It was about a 30 minute ride and it was beautiful. I forgot my camera so I couldn't get a shot of the cliffs that hung like 200 foot curtains around the outlet to the ocean, but it was a breathtaking sight. We passed by the sandstone draperies and landed at Manly cove, walked aout 3 blocks down a giant paved boarwalk with restaurants and surf shops and beach front/souvenier stores until we hit Manly beach. It was beautiful. The sand was fine and light and warm, and the water was pleasantly cool. The waves were breaking nicely and current was fairly stong but not too strong to swim.

We applied sunscreen in triple doses with everyone "getting each other's back" to make sure no one got burned. My neck, shoulders, face, and upper back are slightly more tan than they were this morning, but they do not have a hint of red in them. I can't say that for the rest of my back. Kelsey C failed at her job! Well, I suppose it is my fault for only applying sunscreen twice within 3 hours to my back, vs 3 times within 3 hours for every other part. I'll upload the photos later. The other part of the beach which got us was the sand. It is SO fine and SO soft and SO nice to walk on, that we didn't really realize that it would be SO good at getting EVERYWHERE and not wanting to come off. I washed my towel and it still has some sand on it. On the other hand my skin has been nicely exfoliated. Its Anna's 21st birthday today and we were planning to go drinking and have a karaoke night, but a thunderstorm hit this afternoon and I at least will be spending the night it watching some of the Disney movies or chick flicks the Arundel house has in its library as well as consuming a couple bowls of instant ramen (I have five dollars left of my stipend to spend on groceries until Friday when they pay us again). Signing off for ramen time.
